Proper grip technique for better accuracy
Your grip is the foundation of every shot. Master it and your accuracy improves instantly.
The mission
Most accuracy problems start with the grip. If your grip is weak or inconsistent your shots will scatter. Fix your grip and watch your groups tighten.
The high grip
Place your hand as high as possible on the backstrap. The web of your hand should be tight against the beavertail. This reduces muzzle rise and gives you better control.
Support hand placement
Your support hand wraps around your firing hand. Fingers overlap the firing hand fingers. Thumb points forward along the frame. Both thumbs point toward the target. This locks your grip in place.
Grip pressure
Apply 60 percent pressure with your support hand and 40 percent with your firing hand. The support hand does the work. The firing hand controls the trigger. This balance reduces tension and improves trigger control.
Avoid the death grip
Squeezing too hard causes shakes and fatigue. Squeeze firmly but not aggressively. Your grip should be stable not strained.
Dry fire practice
Practice your grip at home. Focus on hand placement and pressure. Dry fire while maintaining your grip. The front sight should not move when the trigger breaks. If it moves adjust your grip.
Final thought
A proper grip is the foundation of accuracy. Build it right and every other skill improves.
